Update On Art Club

Art club is going well, some kids have started painting their chairs already. I'm excited! They are going to look amazing!

MORE primary color art!

Kindergarten  Primary Color Shape people...

2 for the price of 1,  gotta love that!

Seriously, how adorable are these???

MORE 1st grade Superheroes!!

Some of these may  look pretty chaotic, but there are really extensive stories that go along with these artworks... ask you kids :) !

5th grade mixes 100 colors!

After 5th grade learned about the primaries and secondaries I wanted them to try it out for themselves as well as create a challenge for them. They received a 8.5 x 11 piece of card stock with 100 shaded boxes on it as well as the 3 primaries in acrylic paint. They were told to mix and experiment to make 100 different colors. After week 2 I gave them white and we talked about tints. They liked their colors much better after the introduction of the white. This was to prepare them for a big painting project!  (More on that later...Shh it's top secret)

(notice the first few rows are not as pretty...that was before they got white)

Prek 3 learns Blue

Blue crayon with blue watercolor

2nd Grade continuous line doodles

we looked at Joan Miro for inspiration, it turned out to be a very vague inspiration but that's OK

They were told they could just use primaries or use primaries to mix secondaries to add also. Some did it some didn't.  I think they look pretty cool!

Primary Color Art

3rd grade overlapping (loosely inspired by Mondrian) primary color line collage

1st grade Primary color superheros *most of these are not done yet-these are the few that I have*

 Pre K4  primary color paintings

-it's pretty amazing to hear what the kids who are painting them tell you what  they are of. I get things like "It's an airplane".

Line Art work!- 4th grade

Here is some art created by 4th grade. We looked at line design art, and talked about the choices the artist made. The different types of lines, colors used ,size, balance, how lines become shape, and variety of the line.  I'm excited with what they came up with.

ART CLUB!

I have 70 members of art club. YIKES... in a good way :) They are so lucky I'm a softy and didn't say no to anyone which is why I now have art club 5 days a week.

We are painting  15 artist chairs for our fundraiser is February! We did 8 last year and it was a huge success and they looked amazing.

So far we have sanded and primed the chairs. This week we worked on picking our artists and sketching designs on the chairs in groups.

They we so happy to do manual labor. NOT.

"When do we get to paint?" - Everyone

Where is the artwork already???

Tomorrow there will be some actual pictures of kids artwork on this ART CLASS blog, not just pictures of the art teacher. I promise!

Special Thanks to my POP!

I had asked my dad for his advice on how I should build a light table for screen printing on Friday. I talked to him today and he said he looked into it watched some youtube videos etc. The end result was it would end up being a hassle to get the special bulbs and glass. OK. Well... Since my Pops is so awesome he just ordered one for me, and when I got home it was here waiting for me!

I'm so excited for the new possibilities for art outfits AND how great this is going to be for the kids in my printmaking class!

THANKS POP!
